"Lack of Communication"

About: Queen Elizabeth Hospital (London)

My husband was bought in middle of December extremely unwell. While he was in resuscitation nursing staff made it clear I was a nuisance asking for blankets and asking to be let out! On 2 January I had a call to say he was very unwell and to come in immediately with any other close relatives. I cannot fault the care he was given, but the communication was dreadful. He went down to theatre at 0830 and at 1700 no one would tell me what was happening. One nurse on ward 16 made it clear I was a nuisance. Only when I pleaded with a doctor was I told what was happening. My daughter and I were distraught. The next day he was transferred to Guys intensive care, and 5 weeks later he is still in hospital. While some of the nurses were amazing, some need to know the meaning of empathy.
