"Ward 2A Integrated Discharge Unit"

This ward is for people who are medically fit but awaiting assessment or move to intermediate care. Most patients are elderly. Unfortunately no provision is made to distinguish between those with full cognitive function and those with dementia or mental health issues. As a result my elderly relative is on a ward with another patient who screams constantly and throws things. My relative has gone downhill since being on this ward, suffering sleep deprivation and driven to distraction. Before being moved to this ward my relative was doing well and able to get out of bed but is now dozing off continually due to lack of proper sleep. The staff are doing their best but are constantly in demand from one patient at the expense of others. Its not this patients fault that the service can't cater for their needs
