I visited A&E late on a Sunday night. The staff were amazing. Caring, concerned and put me at my ease. I visited the breast clinic yesterday and, unfortunately, I found the service (with the exception of a wonderful young nurse and doctor in the ultrasound department) cold, uncaring and completely unsympathetic to my nervous disposition. My sister, who accompanied me, was physically sick when she got home, thinking about the overall unwelcoming nature of the clinic. When I told a nurse I was very anxious she laughed in my face - and not in a joking way to cheer me up. This is not what I expect from a clinic of this nature during what is - and is likely to continue to be - an exceptionally difficult and traumatic time. I will consider requesting a switch to Exeter (I live on the border with Devon) if I experience the same when I next visit the department next week.
