"Unprofessional Dr"

About: Bellegrove Surgery

It seems to be the running trend with Bellegrove for staff from receptionists to Drs talking over patients.

My husband and I attended to discuss mental health support for him after I suffered a horrific month of MH issues (a result from one of your medical practitioners telling me to come off strong medication for anxiety due to pregnancy cold turkey).

We were simply told to go a&e if hes suicidal and we will again for a third time be put on a waiting list for Mind support (over the last 4 years). When I explained (tried to) that no one contacts us she simply told us how there is no mental health services for children... clearly she has not heard of CAHMS.

We also tried to discuss my non epileptic seizure but her telling me (although she has never heard of my condition before - diagnosed for the passed 16years) to try anti epileptic medication.

I'm not surprised hospital staff are so overwhelmed as when we try and seek help we are, talked over, not understood, not cared for.

Dear Anonymous, It is difficult to reply to these comments without more specific information and as this is a public platform it would not be appropriate to give this. I would firstly like to say that I am disappointed that you were unhappy with our doctor. It would seem that the GP referred your husband to MIND and in the meantime advised options should his MH decline. I am unsure why the children’s mental health service (CAMHS) would be mentioned in regard to an adult but I am aware that CAMHS does have limited capacity and waiting times are increasing. In regard to MIND if no contact is made after referral you can telephone them directly to chase this.

In regard to your MH issues and seizures again it is difficult to answer your concerns however I would suggest that if you were unhappy with the GP you saw you could request to see another of our GPs when you next attend in the hope that you will feel more at ease with them. I am sorry that you feel talked over, not understood and not cared for as this is not the service usually provided at Bellegrove Surgery. If you feel you would like to discuss this further please do not hesitate to contact me.

Yours faithfully

Mrs Kim Hunt

Practice Manager
