My 89 yr old mum had a stroke just before Xmas and spent a number of days on the stroke ward. The staff were, without exception, absolutely lovely. I don't know all their titles, but from the cleaners, to the BP nurses, to the Physiotherapists, to the doctors, every single one spoke courteously and kindly to my mum (and her visitors) and treated her with the utmost respect. They did their utmost to make sure she was comfortable and well looked after. This was despite the fact that it was the weekend, and nearing Christmas, so they were pretty short-staffed. The family took the decision to take mum home on Christmas Eve (as there were enough of us to cater for her needs at home), but we felt under no pressure to do so. It truly felt as is everyone on the ward wanted our experience with the hospital to be a good one. I congratulate whoever runs that ward on doing an amazing job - it can't be easy, but it makes such a difference to your clients! Thank you all so much.
"Great ethos on this ward!"
