About: University Hospital Monklands / General Surgery (Wards 4 & 7)

(as a volunteer/advocate),

Ward 7 - I don’t think the food is very good, the staff are all nice, always busy in the ward, but always cheerful and helpful. The people that do the cleaning take a lot of care to make sure everything is as clean as possible. It would be lovely if everyone had single rooms as it can get noisy when there’s lot of visitors. The ventilation isn’t great, old windows/buildings don’t help.

Dear UHM29 (as a volunteer/advocate),

Thank you for providing this feedback. I am sorry to hear you did not find the food to your liking, this could have been for many various reasons. Our domestic teams work hard to maintain cleaning standards at all times in a building that has challenges due to its age. You mentioned that the ventilation was not great and the old windows/building. We have been consistently investing in a very old hospital to ensure that it continues to be fit for purpose and these issues are part of that ongoing work. This investment will continue until we are ready to move to a brand new hospital.
