"Poor service"

About: Royal Bolton Hospital

Went to A&E with heavy bleeding. It was obvious it was a suspected miscarriage but sadly I hadn't known I was pregnant.

Surprisingly it wasn't that busy in the waiting room and I had my blood tests pretty quickly. However I then waited around 5 hours to get any results. I was finally called through by a nurse who said she needed to put me on a drip and send me to a ward and I might need to be kept in. I obviously asked why and she was surprised that noone had spoken to me. She then got a doctor to come and speak to me. She was apologetic and they thought I had already been spoken to. My blood tests indicated I was pregnant and the bleeding indicated a miscarriage so they were taking me to a ward for further examinations. Apart from an apology, there is no care given there. I was losing a baby and was devasted but your staff acted like every other illness that comes through the door. They are not equipped to deal with this. Upstairs on the ward the lady was much nicer. She kept coming to check on me as I was waiting for the doctor who was called to an emergency. Also offered to bring me a drink and something to eat as I'd been there so long. I begged to go home as I have a young child I wanted to get home to and after my examination I was finally allowed to leave, at nearly 1.30am when I got there about 4.30pm. The follow up was a blood test 48 hours later. Why do you have to go to a maternity ward for these? So insensitive when you are losing your baby. Anyway just 1 other lady in the waiting room, so I think it will be quick. Wrong. Waited nearly 2 hours for just a blood test. Went to check at reception how long it would be and there were 4 of them chatting. The nurse said she was just coming to see me when I came - rubbish. She was standoffish and asked was everything OK. They know why I'm there and obviously not OK, so why ask that way? It wasn't with care at all. The lady said I may get the results that night or someone would call me the next morning. It got to 2pm and no follow up call so I called the office. The lady went to get my notes and came back to say the hormone level reduced so it was a miscarriage and apologised. Told me to take a test 3 weeks later and if that was positive to let them know. Couldn't get off the phone quickly enough and no support offered. I have never heard anything since. Is that how you treat all your patients? With no thought and care? It is absolutely shocking and I hope to never come back here again.
