After a number of failed attempts at communication, the hospital finally sent me, on 16 December 2019, an appointment for a procedure on Wednesday 16 January 2019. (sic). Given that one has to start the premed 2 days earlier, I tried to check with the hospital whether the procedure was to take place on Wednesday 15 Jan or Thursday 16 Jan. I rang the Endoscopy department all day at the number it provides as being its contact number, the telephone just rings - no one answers. I rang the PALS service - first there was no answer, then the answerphone came on, so I left a message. I rang Appointments, again, several times, and was finally answered by an answer phone which informs the callers that "due to a shortage of telephonists, we are unable to take your call, please leave a message". 8 hours later, still no answer.
This is not the first time that the hospital shows itself to be so incapable of basic communication, whether it concerns a date, recording essential medical information, or indeed its mistaken reliance on Google translate, and what else?
And then it complains of patients not showing up......
