"Heavy bleeding and incontinence"

About: Ninewells Hospital / Gynaecology

(as the patient),

March 2019 I was referred to gynae with a large mass in my abdomen after my gp had sent me for an ultrasound scan, which suggested a large fibroid. I have all the typical symptoms which is having an affect on my health and lifestyle. I also have stress incontinence and was at the point of being accepted for the mesh when it was withdrawn.  In approx July I contacted appointments to see when I might receive one to be met with an arrant response about having to wait my turn, they were booking people who had waited 46 weeks. I eventually saw a really nice doc in nov 2019. He took biopsies and said he would speak to another consultant from Tayside who would discuss hysterectomy and pelvic floor repair at the next MDT meeting. Today I receive an appt to see this other consultant  in APRIL. This is absolutely shocking! More than a year and I am NO further forward.  I phoned to ask why the doctor needs to see me, did the first doctor not gain enough information? And I was told that I would not be treated without being examined, then why did I waste my time going to the previous appointment?  Between the scan and previous examination they already know I have a fibroid which is of a significant size and is not malignant. They know I have problems with heavy bleeding and incontinence why do I have to endure yet another degrading examination, wait another excessively long time and still have no treatment more than a year later!!! This is absolutely shocking and unacceptable!!!!
