"Amazing care, Christmas/New Year"

About: William Harvey Hospital (Ashford)

My husband had the misfortune of being admitted at the possibly worst time of the year with pneumonia and Bronchiectasis, the care in the rapid access treatment, then acute medical unit was absolutely amazing, considering the duress all the staff were under. I listened and watched all the times I visited and was appalled by the conditions, long hours, for most twelve and half or thirteen hour shifts, shortages of beds etc. etc. constant arrivals, running here there and everywhere, just doing a job that we unfortunately take for granted, they all remained cheerful, smiley, caring and professional. How do they do it?! We were then re-admitted via emergency ambulatory a few days later, and again the same treatment, care and empathy. We even got sorted lots of my husband’s problems that were ongoing from February 2019 hopefully sorted at last, by the dedicated teams. Problems which we were tearing our hair out because no one was listening and hospital departments were not working together or keeping each other in the loop. Fortunately good usually comes out of bad! Thank you WHH, your extremely hard working teams were exemplary and we cannot thank you enough, the conditions you have to endure are appalling and our NHS certainly needs a huge shake up.
