"Still waiting for an appointment"

About: Birmingham Midland Eye Centre (Bmec)

Having spent 5 hours in the waiting room, I was eventually seen by a doctor who advised that I had a torn and detached retina that would be treated urgently within 3-4 days. Not counting the weekend, I have waited 3 days and haven’t yet received an an appointment. You read on line how serious this is as it can lead to blindness if not treated quickly. Very worried.

Dear Linda, I am very sorry to hear about this, this is not the standard of care that we aim to provide and we would like to look into what happened here. Please could you contact Laura Young, our Directorate Lead Nurse for Ophthalmology (laura.young4@nhs.net), with your contact details and an overview of what occurred so she can look into the issues you faced. Kind regards, Toby Lewis, Chief Executive.
