"Being able to stay at home for Christmas"

About: Midlothian Community Hospital / Hospital @ Home (Midlothian) Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh at Little France / Accident & Emergency

(as the patient),

I have COPD and Asthma so a cough can be a big problem for me. Having had a GP visit as I was struggling for breath she called Hospital at Home. Thanks to the wonderful Nurses and Doctors I was able to stay at home for Christmas. They came in each day to make sure I was making progress. They brought in Medication and a          a Nebuliser and made sure I understood what was going on. They were kind and caring and I am so very very grateful to them.

Dear JaneD,

Thank you very much indeed for sending us this feedback. I will make sure that the whole team see it. It was very kind indeed to take the time to do this, particularly at such a busy time of year and especially when you've been dealing with health issues. It was a pleasure to be able to help you and I'm delighted that you were able to be at home over Christmas.

The Hospital at Home team is now five years old, but we are still learning and developing, so we are grateful to you for your story. It will help us to develop and support this sort of service as we move forward over the next months and years.

Dr Patricia Cantley

Consultant, Hospital at Home team, Midlothian
