"Really dirty but friendly"

About: Manchester Royal Infirmary

I recently visited a&e and you could see the staff trying their best but they put me in a room that

I wouldn't put a dog in, it was disgustingly dirty I ended up sitting outside as the guards were constantly on their phones and the noise was a trigger I was in a terrible mental state it was so embarrassing people seeing me fall apart. I ended up walking out because no one would give me a straight answer on what was happening so I got impatient luckily I sorted myself out hate leaving a terrible review but hygiene is lacking but patients who create a mess should be held liable too. Get those rooms cleaned I'll happily do it for you 😁

Thank you for your feedback.

Firstly we would like to unreservedly apologise that your experience on your attendance of the A&E department in January 2020 was not as positive as we would hope. Patient's proposals for improvements are valuable insight into the services we deliver as they allow us to make changes wherever possible.

In response to your comment Sarah Sankey, Lead Nurse of the Emergency Assessment and Access Service has confirmed that programs are constantly in place to identify any areas that require restoring. Lead Nurse Sankey is sorry that the room you were received in affected your mental health and has raised your concerns directly with the Estates and Facilities team to prevent this happening again.

It is difficult to respond to all posts in a full way often because of a lack of detailed information, therefore if you would like to discuss your experience with us in more detail, please do not hesitate to contact our Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) on 0161 276 8686 or by e-mailing pals@mft.nhs.uk quoting reference number PO19/0172.
