"The care was second to none."

About: Borders General Hospital / Trauma & orthopaedics (Ward 9)

(as the patient),

In December I was admitted for full hip replacement. Don't mind admitting I was crapping myself as I haven't spent a single day in hospital my entire life. Silly I know now as from admission to recovery room I was well looked after and can't praise staff enough. Onto ward and care was second to none, food was excellent and nursing staff brilliant. Won't ever be doubtful about ever being admitted to bgh again. 3 weeks after opp wound has totally healed and am walking without pain and without sticks! ! Can't thank all involved with my care enough.

Dear deere6320

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and I will ensure that the ward staff have sight of your communication. I can understand your anxieties prior to coming in to hospital if you haven't been an inpatient previously.

The teams of staff from the admission unit, theatre, recovery and post op ward all work hard to ensure that our patients receive the best care possible and it is reassuring to hear that this was indeed your experience.

I appreciate how life changing a new Joint replacement can be for a patient, to be pain free when mobilising, I would like to wish you well for your ongoing recovery,

Best Wishes

Elaine Dickson
