My second abnormal smear test diagnosis in six months. So very apprehensive and nervous after my first colposcopy in May 2019 thinking about going through the procedure a second time and wondering if this time it will rid the pre cancer cells or not. My Consultant, Dr. Rao, at Pilgrim Hospital, was very kind, expressed her sorrow to see me again, however, put me at ease by explaining that as this was my second visit to her, it was not necessarily bad news.
Dr. Rao explained clearly what todays visit was about and what she was going to try to do. Showing me through to the examine room was two very nice ladies waiting, Emma and Janet, whilst Dr. Rao was examining me, the two nurses put me at ease by speaking to me throughout. Dr. Rao explained what she was doing step by step and constantly asking that I was ok. Good news was that Dr. Rao was able to perform a colposcopy where and then so I did not to have a further Hospital trip. After the operation, I was given advise on how to proceed for the next few weeks. Very helpful and supporting for which I thank all three of the lovely ladies.
