Took my son for appointment and again felt that paediatrician was more into commenting my status as a single mother than my son's health issues. It is not the first time I've experienced that and i feel it needs to be dealt with.
There shouldn't be discrimination at any grounds and I don't understand how being a single parent can be used as grounds for discrimination. It is unacceptable to make parent uncomfortable, just because we raise kids alone. Focus of a paediatrician should be on child's health, not belittling the parent. Id like to also mention that paediatrician who was so focused on me being a single mum has missed the fact that my child actually had an health issue. My child went on into the clinic at Ninewells, thanks to my efforts in finding out whats wrong with my child. Ignorance of the paediatrician at PRI would have left us without further help.
I hope that this matter will be addressed and no other single parent will be discriminated.
Thanks
