"Asthma clinic"

About: Marcham Rd Family Health Centre

At my last asthma clinic check up with one of the nurses, I was given a card with steps to take in case of a severe asthma attack. During a chest infection my asthma got out of control one evening after climbing the stairs to go to bed. With the coughing I could not get back in control, but remembered the protocol on the card and put it into practice. After about 10 minutes of repeated inhaler use, I felt in control again though still very wheezy. Ambulance call averted! Before receiving the protocol, I had not realised that it was OK to repeat the inhaler so frequently for a short period of time. So big thank you to the nurse and asthma clinic. It just shows how important these check ups are. I've had asthma for 63 years but there is always something new to learn in terms of management.
