"Nurses pass the buck."

About: Hull Royal Infirmary

My Mum was admitted to ward 5. The care was not impressive. Mum couldn't eat due to her illness. After a week of a couple of mouthfuls of food a day it wasn't picked up on until family reported it. We were told a dietitian would be there in the morning. We asked that day about this to be told it could be a week later when they came. Mum's drip was leaking blood onto the bandage and bedsheets, again family reported it 3 times during visiting to be told someone will come. They didn't. After some time it was reported again and someone in authority said this needs sorting right away as the needle hadn't been inserted properly and was leaking. Mum needed highdrating (part of her illness) I asked the catering tea=coffee lady, please could we have a jug of water. She told me I'm busy doing this, ask a nurse. I did, the nurse said ask the catering lady I said I did and she refused. The nurse rolled her eyes.Mum was freezing cold due to not being able to eat I had to ask for 2 blankets. My Mum was going to be sick so I rushed for a sick bowl which was provided after the nurses were talking and ignored me. No one came to see if she was ok, this happened several times. When Mum's drip was leaking blood quite badly I asked the lady on reception ,(short dark hair) that we needed assistance. She replied the nurse's are busy treating someone who is poorly. My Mum was poorly. She died that night. Too many nurses stood talking busy. Shameful.
