As a visitor to Scotland from Australia, I went to the Emergency Department of Borders General Hospital, Melrose in November last year suffering acute pain in chest.
The treatment I received in this Emergency Department was absolutely brilliant and first class, and I would like to take this opportunity to commend the hospital and some of the practitioners who treated me on this visit.
Firstly, Dr Nick Ord was extraordinarily attentive, thorough and compassionate in treating me upon arrival. I didn't have to wait even though the hospital was busy, and his professional interest and his very thorough examination of my symptoms reassured me that I was in good hands.
Secondly, Dr Jenny Hall in the Acute Assessment Unit, maintained this high level of thorough and complete investigation into my symptoms and I cannot praise her professional approach enough. She also wrote a very detailed report of the treatment received and tests undergone to ensure my Medical Practitioners back in Australia could receive this information.
Finally Joanne Little (Nurses' Aide) was also very attentive, empathetic and compassionate in her treatment towards both myself and my husband.
As visitors from Australia to Scotland, we were very impressed with the high standard of care and treatment afforded to us at this hospital.
I am hoping that this feedback will be forwarded to these personnel who are doing an outstanding job, and to their supervisors.
We hear a lot of criticism about the NHS, however, in our situation, we have nothing but high praise for the treatment we received.
