"Consistently awful at treating mental health"

About: University Health Centre

I've been going to this GP for about 4 years now for various mental health problems (anxiety, depression and suicidal thoughts, eating disorder). In my honest opinion, most of the staff here do not seem to have the tact and sensitivity required to treat such illnesses. There is only one GP here that I feel does but unfortunately it is extremely difficult to book an appointment with them. In fact, I was recently told by reception that you can no longer book appointments in advance with said GP, and that you can only book them on the day. I would absolutely not recommend this GP for people seeking help regarding mental health.

Dear Patient

Thank you for taking the time to give your feedback about the practice. We take comments such as yours very seriously as in the past we have received very positive feedback about our care for patients who have mental health conditions. However, your comments indicate that this has not been your experience. I can only apologise to you on behalf of the practice that your needs have not been met and you feel unhappy with the care you have received. Therefore, it would be useful to follow-up your concerns with you and make any necessary improvements. So, if you feel able to, I would encourage you to email my secretary fiona.mullin@nhs.net so I can use better your concerns to review the service we offer.

Many thanks.
