"Maternity care"

About: Lorn & Islands Hospital / Maternity care

(as the patient),

I had limited exposure to the NHS as I only had very minor ailments. I fell pregnant so I needed care. I live in a fairly remote area and my care was handled by a midwife led community unit. I was sceptic about it as I am used to doctors check up with assistance by midwives. However I did not need to worry. I was taken well care of and it felt individual care was provided to me. All questions were answered and check up provided. Pre-natal classes were run and useful. It could be improved by adding a bit more information for some of the potential procedures which could happen during labour in hospital. Advise about the various options of giving birth was available and discussed which was very helpful due to the remoteness of the place. Postnatal care was very helpful and encouraging. My baby is healthy and so am I. Thank you to all the midwives who took part in my journey to motherhood.

Dear Ferdiwal,

Congratulations on the birth of your baby. Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback on the care that you have received from the midwifery service in Oban,Lorn and the Isles.

I am glad that, despite initial reservations, you had a positive experience of midwifery care both before and after the birth of your baby.

I will feed this back to the midwives and also your recommendations regarding more information on procedures that may be offered during labour and birth.

I am glad that you and your baby are both well and healthy and I wish you well for the future.

Dear Ferdiwal

Thank you for taking the time to provide positive feedback about the care you received from the midwifery team based in Lorn and Islands Hospital, Oban.

I will pass on your thanks to the midwifery team. I am sure the midwives will look to see how they might include more information, in the antenatal classes, about potential procedures which could happen during labour in hospital.

With very best wishes to you and your baby.

Kind regards

Fiona Campbell
