"Uncompassionate Service"

About: Bridge Lane Group Practice

Today 01 June 2018 at 11am, I went in to the surgery to collect my prescription for my asthma inhaler. I had run out completely of the one I was using. I was also in the middle of having an asthma attack. The only problem was that the prescription was over 2 months old. As I work shift hours, when I do remember to collect my prescription the surgery is closed. I did try the electronic service with Boots but there was an occasion when I went to collect my prescription they told me it was already collected so I cancelled that service. I asked the receptionist to have the date changed as the chemist wouldn't accept it. She advised me I would have to come back at 5 o'clock when the doctors were available, she considered this as a new prescription. I accepted I understood the policy but as the prescription was already produced I required an amended prescription. She kept on insisting there was nothing she could do. I felt humiliated when I had to beg whilst having an asthma attack. I would never have expected this type of treatment from this surgery as I have always had a good relationship with couple of doctors and nurses. I asked her what would she suggest, for me to TRY and make my way to A&E or wait until 5 o'clock. She reluctantly went to a doctor and had a new prescription produced for me. I thanked her and left.
