"This young lady gave a new meaning to nursing"

About: Royal Cornwall Hospital (Treliske) / General medicine Royal Cornwall Hospital (Treliske) / Respiratory medicine

(as a service user),

I am almost 82 years of age and have spent over a period of time literally months in Treliske hospital Truro.

I have Parkinson’s, emphysema, and have previously had two major ops for cancer of the bowel. You will understand then that I have spent many months (over a period of time) and I only have praise for all the hospital staff. From the consultants to the cleaning staff.

Today however I met a young nurse, who I have since found out to be named Zoe. This young lady gave a new meaning to nursing. I had just had enema and was as you may imagine in a bit of a mess.  Zoe was exceptionally kind and understanding and put me completely at ease, she showered me, dried me and helped me into pyjamas. All the smiling laughing and taking my mind off an embarrassing situation. I was so taken with her kindness and understanding I felt I needed to tell you. She is in my opinion a first class nurse who deserves recognition.

Dear Poppysooty,

Thank you for taking the time to share your story with us, I was so pleased to read that despite your circumstances you had such great care from the Zoe. It is lovely to read that she was so kind, understanding and that she helped to put you at ease.

I would love to share this great feedback with Zoe, but I can't tell identify the name of the ward you stayed on from this post unfortunately. It would be great if you could let me know the name of the ward by replying to this message, or if you don't want to disclose this information on here, please email me: rch-tr.PPI@nhs.net, I will then be able to share your story with the appropriate staff.

Best wishes,

Ellie
