"Wait for an ambulance"

About: Scottish Ambulance Service / Emergency Ambulance

(as a relative),

My dad who is in his late 70's in Falkirk had to wait for 6 and half hours whilst lying in the floor for an ambulance to come.

My aunt called first and then after I spoke to her I asked her to call back and explain that he had a high risk level of INR level of 10 which means he is high risk for haemorrhage. The call handler wouldn’t listen to her second time and wouldn’t let her explain. I then spent an hour trying to get the gp to see if he could help and in the end after speaking to him he called the ambulance to explain this.. but still he waited another 5 hours.

It’s absolutely disgusting and my dad deserve better care!! I am not happy!!

Dear Horsfield,

Thank you for sharing this on CareOpinion. I am so sorry to read about the delay in sending an ambulance to your father. Please also pass on my apologies to your father who I hope is now recovering from what must have been a very frightening time.

I would be very grateful if you would allow us the opportunity to look into this for you and your father. If you could email me at alan.martin2@nhs.net and provide me with the following details so I can log a case. I would need your fathers name, the address we attended and the date and time that this happened.

I hope to hear from you soon.

Kind Regards

Alan
