I can't emphasise that this is the kind of service you will get with a mental health service underfunded by government. From being refereed to actually getting on medication took 3 years. Yes 3 years, 5 appointments over 3 years. So when people complain about having their appointment moved, mine was moved several times. Often giving me appointments I couldn't make because over summer as a student I did not live in Leicester. Or change my appointment to an early time slot without notifying me. Finally on the day when I was prescribed my medication I almost had a breakdown as the doctor said he could not find my notes (seeing a different doctor). He eventually found them on paper form. The whole experience has been horrible. I understand all staff are over-stressed and stretched, unfortunately this results in a service not fit for purpose in the 21st century. I wish like the other reviewer I changed units with the help of my MP. As a student however, I have no time to do so things. Fortunately now I have finally been diagnosed with ADHD and on the medication. If I knew from the very start it would have taken this long I honestly would have gone private. I wish the staff all the best given their circumstances, but if you are in a hurry please go private, or wait 3 years like I did.
"Sad experience"
