"Mentalization Based Treatment introduction group (MBTi)"

About: Community Forensic Services / Nottinghamshire MBT Service Forensic mental health / Low secure services

(as a service user),

I have recently finished the MBTi group.  I feel a bit more understanding of anxiety and depression.  I found it helped listening to others as I don’t feel alone in my thoughts as I know others have similar feelings (I don’t feel the odd one out).

I struggled with the chairs being changed (made into a circle for one or 2 sessions) as I struggle with change and wasn’t expecting this to happen.  I also found it hard when people were late/didn’t turn up as I ended up repeating myself.

I liked the facilitators but was left a little confused when there were opposite answers given.

Thank you for this feedback. I can appreciate how helpful it is to feel heard/listened to. It seems that being with others, despite this being difficult at times, has been helpful for you in terms of no longer feeling quite so alone.

I get what you say about change, when it takes effort to access a group and then things are not as you expected I can imagine that was hard to manage initially. I do know that you were able to work though this and share your thoughts about this with the group so well done.

It's always hard being in a group with other people, especially at first as those initial bonds with the other group members is just establishing. I know it can feel frustrating at time when we feel we are repeating ourselves with people arriving late etc. I appreciate that this did settle as the group being more consistent so hopefully your experience of this changed as the group went on.

I hope the MBTi group has prepared you well for a move into the longer term MBT therapy.

Best wishes, Louisa Hagan (Operational Team Leader)
