"The care my grandfather received"

About: Victoria Hospital / Medicine of the Elderly Victoria Hospital / Respiratory Medicine

(as a relative),

My 94 year old grandad has been experiencing a few health issues over the past year.  He was initially seen by his GP who referred him onto Medicine of the Elderly for a full review.  As part of this review he was also referred to Respiratory Medicine for investigation.

The care he has received from both Joanna, Respiratory Consultant and Marie, Consultant in Medicine of the Elderly has been second to none.  The care and compassion shown towards my grandad has been exceptional and I can't thank them both enough.

Grandad had given up and getting his diagnosis and the continued support from them both has lifted his spirits and he is doing so well at home.

I also want to mention the care he received whilst in Ward 43, VHK which was also exceptional.  The staff do a fantastic job in such a busy environment and nothing was ever a bother to them.  In fact I don't think my grandad wanted to go home!!!

On behalf of myself and my family, a huge thank you to everyone involved in his care.

Dear Happy Grandaughter,

Thank you so much for taking the time to give such lovely feedback about the care your Grandad has received from Ward 43 and both Consultants Joanna and Marie. The care and compassion shown towards your grandad is something that health care staff strive to achieve for all patients but to hear it described as exceptional is high praise in deed. It sounds like the staff managed to meet all your Grandad's needs which as you say can be challenging at times during busy periods. However there are not many patients who don't want to go home which is a very reassuring sign that the team are doing a very good job. I'll be delighted to pass your thanks and positive feedback to the ward staff and the individuals you have named. It's really good to hear that the continued support from them has lifted his spirits and he is doing so well at home.

Many Thanks again and best wishes to you and your family and of course Grandad, who I hope is still continuing to thrive.

Esther
