"Basic care is being missed daily"

About: Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / General Internal Medicine

(as a relative),

A relative was in ARI and the care they received was shocking.

This person cannot feed themselves or hold a drink, yet staff acted like it was acceptable to leave their food to go cold and not bother with hydration.

Even another patient remarked that we should look after them because in their opinion the staff wouldn't.

Basic care was being missed daily.

Hello

As the Chief Nurse responsible for this area, I was very sorry to read of your concerns re patient care and the experience that your relative encountered. I am also concerned that the level of care delivered was also raised by another patient within the ward. If you feel able to share your concerns further and with your relatives consent, please get in touch with myself directly as this is not the quality of care that we aim to deliver within our wards.

Kind regards

Fiona Robertson

Chief Nurse
