"Cancellations"

About: Glasgow Dental Hospital and School / Dental

(as a service user),

Daughter is attending for treatment to try and save her adult front tooth- she is 8 and damaged the tooth and root in an accident. She had an appointment which we had to cancel due to it clashing with her school play (she had a part in it) I cancelled the appointment 4days before the day. Another appointment sent out had to cancel it on the day as the whole family had diarrhoea and vomiting bug so could not have gotten there but daughter wouldn’t have been having treatment as she kept on vomiting! Receptionist was lovely - don’t worry we’ve had a lot of cancellations due to this. All adverts say don’t attend hospital when u have a d&v bug!!!

Got a letter today- they are discharging my daughter from the dental hospitals care as we didn’t attend 2 appointments, no we cancelled 2 appointments one due to managing a 8 yr olds expectations of school plays and one due to illness. I called, gave a reason and apologised. I am a very responsible parent and adult and do not think this is the way to respond I can understand if I DNA but I gave notice!!

This is poor service and patient relations demonstrated by GG&C and the Dental Hospital

Dear Angry Nic,

I was sorry to read your feedback and the upset this has caused you due to an error on our behalf. Please accept my sincere apologies for this error in recording the correct reasons for your daughter's cancelled appointments.

Unfortunately I do not have details to be able to identify your daughter and would be grateful if you could contact me either by telephone on 0141 232 6303 or by email at Jackie.Wilson@ggc.scot.nhs.uk I would be happy to organise a further appointment.

Once again, please accept our apologies and for you having to make contact to inform us of this.

Kind Regards

Jackie Wilson
