I was injured in a RTC was in hospital for 17 months of which I was in three different hospitals. I was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital Glasgow buy Coastguard Helicopter where they saved my life buy stabilizing my spine with metal rods they gave me 8% chance of survival then after three months I was moved to Ayr university hospital to try and recover from serious pressure sores to which I had a vacuum pump fitted. Ten days later I was moved to Girvan Community Hospital where the staff were very professional in dealing with the wounds. When I left Glasgow they didn't think I would walk again so this was a massive challenge for nursing staff as I had to be hoisted for them to work with me, but with nursing staff, physiotherapists, occupational therapists all working together the hard work started from learning to sit up in bed to putting feet onto floor, the staff here worked continuously every day till they had me stand up then the gym every day for another nine months from wheelchair to Zimmer frame to elbow crutches then walking stick. The staff at Girvan Community Hospital do not get the recognition they deserve I only wish the NHS would highlight how good this hospital is. Excellent treatment from all staff, so thank you all for giving me my life back, I hope the nhs is as proud of the staff as I am so thank you all.
