"Getting worse "

About: Palfrey Health Centre

Had a appointment where I was only 2 minutes late but my health provider refused to see me there have been number of times where I have been waiting for more than 20 minutes to be seen at a appointment but today I didn’t get seen for being 2 minutes late which I think is unfair.

The reception staff there are very rude at times and very unhelpful they need to understand that they are the first point of call and being unwell every one could do with a smile or a happy face to greet them makes a world of a difference I must say I preferred the old reception staff as they alway had a smile on their face no matter how hard their day was or how much pressure they were under. It’s very difficult to get appointments so was advised to sign up for online appointment it took the practice 2 months to get it sorted and 4 months down the line in still waiting to have my kids put on there every time i ask when it will be done it’s always waiting for admin to do it. My question is why set up a system that is not going to work or be maintained as there are hardly any appointments on there either just tells to call the surgery. This practise was very good when I joined in 2007 but now it just seems like no body cares any more!!!!

Thank you for your comment, I am sorry to read of your recent experience on NHS Choices. Unfortunately, I cannot comment on your individual circumstances and I accept that every case will be different.

The practice does monitor and regularly review its policy on the appointment system, and has recently improved the amount of clinical capacity for appointments. The practice has a policy of seeing any patient within 10 minutes of their scheduled appointment, for anyone affected by genuine delay.

The practice does ensure that all reception staff are offered training and support to fulfil their role. However, I appreciate that there may be occasion when patients may not always be happy with the responses they are given.

Applications for online access to appointments typically take no longer than 1 -2 weeks to process, and the short delay is to ensure the completion of all identity checks. In reviewing you comment in this regard is it possible that you are mistaken on the details? It was not possible for your children to be accepted earlier than November 2019, when the new online access procedures for children were introduced at the practice. I appreciate that you may be frustrated by any delay, but the online access portal is maintained by a third party provider and delays to its functionality are beyond the control of practice staff.

Due to confidentiality reasons we are unable to discuss patient specific information on this forum, however if you would like to discuss your experience further please contact the surgery and book an appointment to see me.

Mr Obaid Siddiq

Practice Manager
