at the end of November my granddad was rushed to resus with pneumonia and sepsis. He was seen to straight away and given all the care he needed at the time. However, it was decided due to his dementia and co-morbidities that the antibiotics and treatment would not be appropriate.
The Resus department then moved my granddad to the quiet room where he stayed until he sadly passed away. I want to say a massive thank you to every single member of the team that dealt with my family and my granddad during the 12 hours he was in the hospital. The nurses, HCA'S and student nurses were all so compassionate. they made us feel that we could call them at any point we were concerned. They made my granddad as comfortable as they could but also looked after us as a family too. Nothing was too much trouble for anyone in that department. The nurses were so respectful and compassionate about my granddads final hours and treated him with so much dignity. The nurse in charge that took over the shift when my granddad finally passed away talked to us about the whole process and gave us as much time as we needed. The calmness and consideration of everyone within the resus department was amazing considering the environment we were in and what we were all going through. I would just like to say a HUGE thank you to every single person who cared for my granddad and treated him with the dignity, respect and compassion that he deserved.
"The amazing care my grandad recieved during his final hours."
