An appointment had been arranged in late October for my 94 year old mother to attend the audiology department at Hairmyres hospital for two new hearing aids to be fitted. I attended the appointment with her. The appointment time was 11.45 am, and involved electronic testing of my mother's response to the new aids. Unfortunately, due to a computer software issue, a delay of over an hour resulted.
We were advised not to leave the waiting area, as we would be seen as soon as the problem was resolved. However, during the waiting period, the Senior Audiologist and Team Lead was very kind and attentive; providing us with tea and biscuits and updates on the situation. This was very much appreciated, and worthy of highlighting as a caring response to an unexpected situation.
It goes without saying that the audiologist, Noreen, was superb and spent a considerable amount of time, with great patience, explaining to my mother how the moulded earpiece hearing aids were to be located - as they were different from her old ones.
