"Appoinments failings"

About: University Hospital Monklands

(as the patient),

I was due a two year review in December and phoned the hospital as I had not received a letter.  I left a message however no-one returned my call.  I phoned again in November to be told about my appointment.  When I realised that the date they gave was a Saturday, I phoned back to confirm the date and time was correct.  I was then told I had no appointment as the date and time I was given was the date and time for my appointment 2 years previously and had therefore been put on a waiting list.

I have had some great treatment at the hospital and cannot rate the staff more highly however time and time again the appointment system fails.  For a repeat appointment like this there should be a flag on your system to make sure an appointment is booked in good time in line with current waiting times.  I even phoned in October to try and ensure all was scheduled as per my last visit and phoned again in November however no appointment was made.  Its very disappointing.

Dear APB,

I'm sorry to hear about the difficulties you are experiencing trying to arrange your review appointment.

Could I ask you to contact the Patient Affairs Dept on 01236 713065 and they will be able to signpost / advise you.

Kind regards

Rick
