"Thank you for your help"

About: Southampton General Hospital

When I've previously visited the emergency department regarding my mental health I've felt tremendously stigmatised and misunderstood, felt like I was wasting everybody's time.

This time was different, I had something pretty awful happen to me earlier that evening. To which I was nervous about how my emotional response would pan out. Its always become fairly irrational previous to this and didn't trust myself on my own mainly.

I got in contact with my dad and felt okay about going home again, I didn't want to waste any doctors or nurses time. But they had a good chat with me, explained that I seem incredibly coherent and it was first time I was treated as a person rather than a person with BPD. I just really want to say thank you to the whole team, the triage nurse and person escorting me having an open and honest chat (and thanks for the hug, sometimes just remembering how human you are and having others understand you really is all you need). I didnt reach crisis, it didn't get to rock bottom. I followed my crisis plan step by step and without the non-judgmental and quite frankly loving and understanding staff to meet and deal with is ultimately why I didn't. My recovery is getting stronger and I can only thank you lovely people. Thank you for everything you do everyday x
