"Communication & Food"

About: University Hospital Hairmyres

(as a volunteer/advocate),

Ward 6

The doctors are not the greatest at telling me their names and when one doctor asks me what another doctor has said I do not know who they are talking about so communication could be better.

The nurses are good but when I asked for a urine bottle for through the night I did not get it ..I also asked for my I. v to be replaced, no one came back and the buzzer on the machine went off all night

The food on offer is not great due to my illness.

They did start to bring supplement special drinks but it is too much for me to drink as I am only able to take a small amount. They have stopped this now.

Dear Uhh164

It is always challenging to find something that we like when we are feeling well, it is even more difficult when we are unwell. for various reason our taste buds can change. We endeavour to make alternative choices of meals available for patients if there is nothing on the menu that suites their taste.

The nursing staff can make arrangements for someone from the catering department or dietician to speak to you to discuss your meals.

I hope you are on the road to recovery.

Regards

William
