"Fantastic ward, amazing care and genuine people!"

About: The Whittington Hospital

Our daughter was born at the Whittington and we cannot speak highly enough of the level of care we received from the outset. We were greeted and inducted quickly and efficiently. From there the process was fantastic. Good levels of care coupled with clear communication as to what was happening meant our active labour began with as little apprehension as possible.

The birthing unit provided a welcome area for us go through initial stages of labour supported by a brilliant midwife (wish we could name!) who gave us support and guidance making things feel as natural and normal as possible. Whilst the birthing unit wasn’t our units preference, as we were keen for the option of epidural, due to circumstances outside of hospitals control we were moved initially to the birthing unit - so glad we were. It provided an amazing environment that allowed us to move through contractions with the necessary pain relief, in a calm manner.

Subsequent developments with the labour meant moving to the labour ward with some complications. The doctors involved (wish they could get the credit they truly deserve!!) came to support the delivery with warm hearts and clear and concise rationale behind their decision making; making us feel included and in control of what happened next.

Following the birth of our daughter, mom experienced some trauma and needed immediate help, which was there within seconds. The level of response from senior doctors, midwives, anaesthetists etc was amazing. Providing immediate intervention, whilst listening to mom and her needs and pain levels. Looking back the way in which they responded and plotted a successful treatment was incredible.

All in all, we can’t recommend this place enough. Facilities were great, from wards to midwives to doctors to cleaning staff there was a genuine warmth and care you wish for when bringing your first baby into the world.

We wish we could say thank all individually to these amazing people, and hope that they can read these words if only as a small token of our gratitude.
