I had to attend the QE for melanoma surgery on 30th September 2019 and was seen by the consultant plastic surgeon who explained in great detail the procedures that would be undertaken. All staff in the short stay Wellcome ward were efficient, welcoming and put me at my ease. I had to undergo an hour long scan to identify the location of underarm lymph nodes but all through this process, the staff were calm, reassuring and constantly explaining what was happening and why. The surgical team all introduced themselves, were very friendly and again, were at pains to explain the processes of administering anaesthesia and what would happen during the surgery.
Post surgery, the ward staff were very attentive ensuring I was comfortable and pain free and after an overnight stay, during which I had a wonderful night’s sleep in a calm and quiet ward, I was discharged next day with medication and plenty of instructions for aftercare.
I could not fault the treatment I had at the QE. The staff were wonderful, communicative and helpful. No question was too simple or difficult and everyone was at pains to ensure I understood every part of the treatment process.
I heartily recommend the QE and the fantastic treatment on the NHS. My heartfelt thanks to all involved and especially to the marvellous surgical team headed by the consultant plastic surgeon.
"Wonderful treatment"
