Taken to the department by a friendly lady volunteer, didn’t wait too long for a mammogram, the radiographer was excellent friendly and professional and helped me relax, waited a while to be taken for the scan, I was scanned by a friendly presumably trainee who did take a long time, then another clinician came over didn’t introduce herself and then she proceeded to continue scanning me, she then asked the HCA to go and fetch another clinician, I was beginning to panic!
Waited quite a while for her to arrive and the only person comforting me was the HCA, at no point did the clinicians say what they were doing, the final clinician came in and you could tell she was under pressure and did introduce herself and eventually told me I just had a few cysts and I could go! I really felt rushed at the end and at no point did she ask me to sit up and discuss the outcome with me? I def just felt like a number, I realise it’s a very very busy department but a little compassion goes a long way especially when you are terrified and have been waiting 2 weeks
It’s a wonderful service but compassion seems to be absent
