My wee boy attended the unit today after falling at school and hurting his ear. Turns out a piece of rubber crumb from the artificial football pitch had entered his ear.
Yes the place was busy, yes we had a wait but the girl who was on reception (possibly Linda...hope I've got that right) was very pleasant, caring and apologetic when we arrived due to the expected waiting time of 90mins.
After a 90min wait we were taken through and one of the charge nurses Jennifer examined my little boys ear and confirmed there was rubber crumb in it. She attempted to remove it but couldn't. She spoke with the Oncall ENT consultant at the RHC and got an answer straight away regarding the best course of action.
Honestly couldn't have asked for a more caring and professional team.
Working under a lot of pressure with a lot of people in the waiting room complaining about the wait.
Thanks everyone.
