I had a perforated appendix. The surgeon was thorough and I am very grateful for his skill. Scar healed well and no further infection. The nursing staff throughout all the wards I was on( AAU, HDU, Ward 13) were superb. They were great at the actual nursing but just as important they showed compassion, kindness and care to all. I felt they were on my side and appeared immediately if I needed help and allowed dignity and independence when I was able to manage myself. Food also looked and tasted like a proper meal. Even vegan options. If I had to have major surgery then I was very lucky to have been in Airedale. Thanks to all involved.
