After sending off a routine bowel test I received word saying there was an abnormality (trace blood in poo) and that I would need a colonoscopy to determine what was causing this, this was a surprise as I had never noticed anything out of the ordinary when going to loo, these new screening services are amazing they can detect the slightest problem and let you act on it which allows very very early detection of any issues. Anyway, colonoscopy was arranged within 2 weeks at FV hospital.
These guys are amazing, you receive a phone call from lovely nurse at endoscopy unit to arrange convenient dates and times for procedure, during this call you are asked health questions, about allergies, meds you are on etc etc, then 2nd agreed phone call is from the person who will carry out the procedure (she is lovely) she explains the procedure in great detail👍.
At the hospital you are taken care of expertly from the minute you arrive ALL the ladies/staff are superb, chatty putting you at ease all the time. You get prepped then taken to procedure room and treated extremely kindly they tell you absolutely everything they are doing or going to do with the minimum of fuss they are so so professional.
All this, in turn relaxes you and the procedure is carried out with minimum discomfort and certainly no pain you even get to watch on screen it's awesome, THEY'RE awesome so if you are worried about ANY aspect of this procedure, don't, these people care, really care and are very bloody good at what they do.
Go get sorted, it's made so easy by our wonderful hospital staff. Especially the girls at ambulatory care/ endoscopy unit. Thank you.
