I came to the appointment feeling very anxious, and to be honest, very afraid as I had been having a horrendous time with my tinnitus worsening, due to upheavals in my personal life. I was also anxious about meeting a new audiologist instead of the one I have been seeing for the last few months. However, I cannot praise the audiologist I did see highly enough. She spent an hour with me, listened to me and gave me, not just medical but also emotional support, which is something I badly needed. I cannot remember her name and it is not on the letter she printed out for my next appointment. It is just signed in print as Audiologist.
I left feeling so much better. I had not been out of the house for weeks and as the tinnitus was worsening I was given to fits of sobbing. Today I went shopping with my son after the appointment, I went for something to eat and and then home. I have not been able to do these things for so long.
I was given the very confidence that I needed that the trt training will work, as my ears had actually got better before.
Wishaw hospital audiology staff are superb. In a class of their own. They understand how tinnitus affects the individual in all ways and provide, as far as I am concerned, the support that any CPN, psychiatrist I have seen (which was ever only for 10 to 15 mins to sort out medication) or any other individual.
They see the whole picture and provide the greatest of care, support and kindness.
