I was told at very short notice that my husband was to be discharged from hospital on a Friday in October, 2019. The hospital provided me with a frame for the toilet which a friend transported for me. Our own Care Manager in our Sheltered Housing Complex where we live was unable to restore care for us until Monday due to lack of notice. I was told that the Hospital to Home Service would be made available for the weekend. The carers who came were each splendid - unhurried, thoughtful and attentive and were a tremendous help. The first one even fetched a Commode in her own transport and of her own volition, which made life much easier for my husband. When the Care stopped, a Physio came with exercises for my husband to help the rehab, and sent a Carer thereafter to supervise the exercises and encourage my husband. I cannot speak highly enough of the Hospital to Home Service as we encountered it.
Sadly, my husband's medical condition deteriorated, and he had to be readmitted to B.G.H. after 10 days and died there on October 29th.
