"Colonoscopy"

About: New Cross Hospital / Colorectal surgery

(as the patient),

When I had the results of my bowel screening it threw me into a panic.

I feared the worst even though the letter explains that cancer isn’t always the outcome. But after meeting with nurse at sedgley clinic and he had explained it all to me I felt more reassured.

I was given an appointment for the actual screening along with all the details about the laxative drink and the actual process that I would be going through.

Everything was explained thoroughly and i had no worries about the colonoscopy itself.

The laxative drink was not too enjoyable but it had to be done....

The actual colonoscopy was interesting as I watched it on the screen and wasn't too uncomfortable as I had been given medication to make sure I was comfortable throughout the procedure.

All the staff were very caring and professional, I felt at ease throughout it all.

If anyone is thinking twice about having the procedure done don’t hesitate to go through with it.  It is worth it for peace of mind.

Mine was just a polyp which I watched being removed and no problems have arisen since.

Once again , thanks to,all the staff for the kindness and care that I was given.
