"I felt that the doctor was dismissive"

About: Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust - Queen's Medical Centre Campus / Ear, Nose and Throat

(as a service user),

I felt that the ENT doctor I saw this morning was very dismissive of my symptoms. After listening to my symptoms and looking in my throat with a camera and finding nothing I was told to take Gaviscon Advance ( I never have indigestion, heartburn or acid reflux). When I asked what was causing my symptoms just advised that "it will clear up" and then I felt hustled out.

Thank you for your sharing feedback. I am sorry that you were left feeling the doctor you saw today was dismissive of your symptoms. This is not how we would want any patient to feel, and we’d like to know more about how this happened. If you’d like to, please get in touch with our patient experience team so that they can gather some more information that will help us to know where to direct your feedback, so that it can be learned from to improve the experience of future patients. You can contact them on 0115 924 9924 ext 66623 or email QMC.PET@nuh.nhs.uk.

Kind regards

Simon Parsons
