So, after 2 ultra sounds and a ct scan I get a call from the consultants sectretary saying the consultant wants to see me as soon as possible - appointment made. I have the usual 1 1/2 hr wait past the appointment time - bloody NHS cuts!! Get in to see the consultant - he has no clue what is going on, says he is going to send me for a scan - I explain I already have had three scans! Oh he states. Looks at my files and states he will operate on a kidney stone. I ask about my original problem with my testicles - he looks none plussed even though he was the guy who originally sent me for the scans on my testicles!!! I kick off, I state that whilst I understand there are cuts and their workload is far more than they can handle, I have no confidence in him or what he is telling me. The nurse with him takes on board my concerns and tells me if I hang around I can see his boss, the head consultant. I wait around for half an hour and then get an audience with the head urology consultant on call. We sit and chat. After a he reviews my case and looks at both ultra sounds results and my CT scan, he states I have scarring on both kidneys that cause concern and he would like to arrange further CT scans ASAP to rule out cancer!!!!!!! CANCER yes. So I have gone from a consultant who instilled zero confidence in me by saying I have a kideny stone to someone who actually knows what they are talking about and states there is a possibility of Kidney Cancer.. What if I had not kicked off, what if I had not questioned the first consultant and been complicit in his demands? Who knows, waiting for the second CT scan appointment to come through.
Totally wrong by the first consultant - he had absolutely no idea. Obviously I hope there is no cancer, but if there is and this guy missed it, the quesiton I have is - Should he be in a job????
"Oh dear"
