3 months ago I took part in an MRI scan for a research study. Today I was phoned out the blue by a radiologist at the QEUH asking if I could come in today for a second scan.
Naturally my stress levels have gone through the roof and I asked why if there was a problem, she was unable to tell me saying “i don’t know if there is an issue” which does not put my mind at ease at all.
I have then had to make several phone calls myselfthrough the switch board to be told by another nurse that it was purely a missing section of the scan so another is required to basically fill in the gap, that I should of had a letter explaining this which I hadn’t done.
I just think if you are going to make a call like that you should be prepared for some pretty frightened questions and it was handled terribly. That put my stress through the roof not to mention the people I have contacted in a state of panic. Totally unacceptable and I write this opinion in the hope that something is done so that such an unprepared phone-call is not made to somebody else and I can save them the anxiety it caused me.
