My dad five years ago was diagnosed with prostrate cancer, picked up with a routine blood test. I cannot tell you how impressed I am with mr mclaren and his team within this department. The care has been over and above what we as a family would expect. Within this 5 year period he was also diagnosed with bladder cancer, had he not already been in the system seeing mr mclaren I doubt this cancer would have been picked up so early. He gets his routine bloods tests and follow up appointments without us having to chase these up. My dad has now decided to take treatment for his prostrate cancer and the liason with the western was very professional and quick. As a member of staff at the bgh this kind of treatment for my dad makes me very proud to be a part of nhs borders.
