"Concern about Receptionist "

About: The Dove Medical Practice

I am writing on behalf of my husband who had several strokes, the last being disabling. Over the past few weeks blood tests were required which is an annual test. I am amazed and disheartened to find out that his medical records do not reflect this fact of his severe stroke. Twice now in the last 2 weeks receptionist called asking for him to get to the surgery for repeat tests I feel very sad that I have had to tell them each time that he is housebound and cannot get to the surgery and the nurse/doctor will have to make a home visit. Shouldn’t this very important piece of information be immediately visible on his medical record? I hope measures will be taken to correct this. I even told the first receptionist that called that he was housebound but obviously this fell on deaf ears.

We are sorry that you are unhappy with the service received from the Dove Medical Practice.

Unfortunately, our receptionists are not medically qualified to decide whether a patient should be registered as housebound or not. It may not be immediately visible to them when they are booking appointments, especially if this is a recent change in circumstances. We take your comments on board and will endeavor to make any important to information more accessible for our receptionists.

We would be grateful if you could please contact the practice manager, we would be happy to discuss your concerns further and ensure that your husband's records have an alert to state that he is housebound.
